Details to followA small guide to Sa Pa
Stay for a few extra days to ride above the terraces, walk into Muong Hoa Valley, stand at Vietnam’s highest point on Fansipan, try a Red Dao herbal bath, and explore the mountain markets.
Closer to the wedding, we’ll organise optional tours across viewpoints, playful rides, village life, and local food.

Known as the “Roof of Indochina,” Fansipan is the highest peak in Indochina, standing at 3,143 metres above sea level. Ride the mountain railway and cable car through spectacular mountain scenery, then explore the summit’s viewpoints and spiritual complex.

See the stone church and central square, stop for coffee, then visit Moana’s playful viewpoints above Muong Hoa Valley, including Bàn Tay Vàng, the Golden Hand in our photograph.
Take the cliffside elevator, cross the glass skywalk, and try the suspended mountain walkway, zipline, or sky swing.

A lively village walk close to Sa Pa, with waterfalls, traditional houses, waterwheels, and local crafts. Try on traditional Hmong attire and step more fully into the colour and character of village life.

For a quieter, more lived-in alternative to Cát Cát, visit this Red Dao village for local textiles, everyday valley life, sweeping rice terraces, and a traditional herbal bath.

Ride the little red train across Muong Hoa Valley to the Fansipan cable-car station. It is a theatrical start to the summit trip.

Control your speed as Bản Mòng’s track loops across a misty hillside of forest, farmland, and mountain views.
Getting to Sa Pa
Sa Pa has no airport, which is part of its charm. Leaving Hanoi, the city gives way to rice terraces, winding mountain roads, and, eventually, the clouds. Allow around 6 to 8 hours for the journey.

Overnight · Our romantic rail pick
Chapa’s Grand Suite Queen offers a proper bed, private cabin, and warm woodwork from Hanoi to Lào Cai. Sa Pa is another hour away through the mountains by road.

Direct · Best value
A direct coach from Hanoi to central Sa Pa generally takes around six hours. Newer cabin services offer curtained, lie-flat berths with pillows, blankets, and personal screens.

Direct · Most comfortable by road
These are small premium vans, not stretch limousines. An 11-seat service uses broad reclining leather seats for the five to six-hour route.

We’ll make it easy
We’ll recommend places to stay closer to the wedding, with options at different price points and distances from the celebration.
Confirmed Hanoi to Sa Pa routes, recommended departures, arrival guidance, and group transfer options.
A small selection of optional Sa Pa experiences for anyone who would like to explore together.
Closer to the wedding, we’ll share one practical guide bringing together our recommended hotels, confirmed transfers, optional tours, and arrival advice. Please wait for it before booking accommodation, tours, or the Hanoi to Sa Pa journey.
